Looking for fall dough bowl ideas that go beyond a pile of orange pumpkins? Think cream pumpkins, trailing beads, green pears or a bowl filled with autumn flowers.
These arrangements give you plenty to try on your dining table, coffee table or entryway console.
You can keep things simple or go all out with color. There are a few alternative displays here too, including a Halloween tray.
Fall dough bowl looks worth saving
little pumpkins and berry branches
How cute are those little leaf details? The rust and white pumpkins have ribbed patterns, while the dusty pink ones have a nubby finish.
Pinecones fill the spaces between them. Try letting orange and burgundy berry branches extend past both ends of your bowl like these.
an orange candle centerpiece
This is another pretty way to use classic fall colors. A tall orange pillar sits among striped gourds, little pumpkins, pinecones and berry stems.
The long curved gourd on the left is my favorite detail. For your version, choose an orange flameless pillar and keep the smaller decorations low around it.
green pears and red apples
Don’t want to decorate with pumpkins? No problem!
This narrow bowl has green pears, red-blushed apples and leafy stems running from end to end.
I love how much of the bowl is still showing. Leave a few open spaces rather than filling every gap.
one big cream pumpkin
If you’re looking for a simple starting point, go with one large pumpkin in the middle. This cream one has such a cute chunky looped pattern.
Smaller orange, pale green and cream pumpkins surround it, with little round cream accents reaching beyond the ends.
braided pumpkins and golden leaves
I am obsessed with these oversized braided-pattern pumpkins. The cream and dark brown pair looks so pretty surrounded by small orange pumpkins.
Tuck golden leaf stems around the outside of your arrangement to follow this look. Let a few stand above the pumpkins rather than keeping everything flat.
a small bowl with speckled pumpkins
How cute is that cream pumpkin with the orange speckles? It sits right at the front of a rounded bowl filled with pinecones, little pumpkins and trailing leaves.
The bowl is raised on a square base here. Try a similar setup if you want to give a smaller arrangement a little extra height.
white pumpkins and golden sprigs
Don’t want to go overboard with different decorations? This white pumpkin arrangement is for you.
Fine golden-brown sprigs fill the bowl around the pumpkins, with a wide stretch of the rim left visible.

I’d keep this one just as simple. It doesn’t need beads or a candle in the middle.
muted pumpkins and tiny flowers
This may just be one of my favorite neutral arrangements here. The big gray-green and pale peach pumpkins look gorgeous beside the little cream ones.
Tiny white flower heads peek out between them. Try those small floral accents if you want something different from the usual orange leaves.
olive green and copper colors
The olive-green pumpkins are so pretty in this shallow bowl. I love their gathered ridges and tall curved stems next to the smaller copper-colored pumpkins.
Rust leaves and fine green sprigs spread over the rim. Keep that loose outline if you’re trying this combination yourself.
pastel succulents and patterned pots
Looking for something without the usual fall colors? This is a year-round succulent-style arrangement rather than a distinctly autumn display.
Pale green, blue-gray and lavender shapes surround a white candle, patterned miniature pots and marked stones.
For a fall variation, you could replace a few stones with little cream pumpkins. A flameless candle would suit the closely packed arrangement.
white pumpkins and looping beads
I love this white pumpkin arrangement with the pale green leaves. The bead garland loops through pinecones and openwork brown balls, with yellow leaves tucked along the edges.
An orange candle sits in the center. You could use an amber-colored flameless light for a similar touch of color.
a big pumpkin and orange blooms
If you are looking for a true eye-catcher, then this one is for you. That large tan pumpkin has a nubby surface that looks so cute beside the smaller striped pumpkins.
I love the bright orange flowers around the base. Let a few flower stems reach over the front of your bowl to follow this arrangement.
sage green and rust accents
There’s so much to look at here, from the braided-pattern pumpkins to the broad curled pods. The sage-green pillar in the middle is a lovely change from orange or ivory.
Try a flameless version in the same color, then pair it with rust, cream and mottled green decorations.
orange slices and star shapes
This candle-style bowl is a little different from the pumpkin arrangements above. Orange slices, star anise shapes and cinnamon sticks decorate the edges of the pale surface.

I’d treat this as an unlit decorative display. Keep the pretty citrus and spices away from open flames.
golden roses and striped feathers
I am obsessed with these golden-orange roses. The striped feathers, broad gray-green leaves and cream plumes are just as pretty.
The container isn’t visible in this close-up, so save this one for its floral details rather than its bowl shape. You could borrow the colors for a low arrangement in your own dough bowl.
pale pumpkins and silvery branches
This is a lovely option if bright orange isn’t your thing. A large fringed-looking tan pumpkin sits between small pale pumpkins, with silvery leaf branches stretching toward both ends.

The long bowl fits neatly behind the sofa. I’d keep the open space around the decorations rather than adding more filler.
a waving skeleton and jack-o’-lantern
How cute is that little waving skeleton? This display uses a round black tray rather than a dough bowl, but the jack-o’-lantern and dark leafy branches offer plenty of Halloween inspiration.
For a dough bowl version, try the pumpkin and skeleton without the stacked books or raised candle. Give the skeleton a spot near the edge so its legs can hang over.
citrus details and a tied tag
Last but definitely not least, we have this decorated candle-style bowl. I love the orange slices and tiny reddish pumpkin shapes around the pale center.
Twine stretches across the top, with a little tag tied on the left.
Keep this as unlit display inspiration too, especially with the cord crossing the surface. The citrus colors are worth borrowing for a separate decorative bowl.
