Looking for frankenmuth winter outfits with a little more personality? Think oversized cream scarves, burgundy boots and brown coats over your favorite jeans.
These ideas include bundled-up combinations plus lighter looks you can borrow for indoor plans.
You can keep things simple or bring in a little color. Not every outfit shown is ready for freezing weather, so plan extra layers and weather-appropriate footwear for outdoor time.
Start with the combinations you love, then make them work for your trip.
Winter outfit ideas to save for your trip
cream scarf and black puffer
We’re starting off strong with this cute black puffer and oversized cream scarf. I love the long fringe hanging over the black leggings. The pale earmuffs make it even cuter.
Pair yours with black lace-up boots and let white socks peek out at the top.
long black coat and flared jeans
If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. A long black coat sits over a plain black top and light-blue flared jeans.
The raw hems and pointed black boots are my favorite details here. You don’t need much else to follow this look.
brown trim and tan trousers
How gorgeous is this brown jacket? The oversized fuzzy collar and matching cuffs are so pretty with the tan flared trousers.
Try a white blouse underneath and let its patterned cuffs show. A brown bucket bag is a lovely finishing touch.
burgundy sweater and matching boots
I am obsessed with these burgundy boots. They look so cute with the oversized matching sweater and little pale checked skirt.

Keep the black tights and shoulder bag if you want to follow this combination. The layered gold-tone necklaces add just a little extra detail.
cream jacket and patterned socks
Don’t want to go all out with your outfit? No problem!
This collage pairs black leggings with a cream zip-up jacket, an olive-green chest pocket and a matching pale beanie.
I especially love the patterned socks. Let a little of the pattern show above brown lace-up boots.
brown coat over cream
This may just be one of my favorite color combinations here. The long dark brown coat looks gorgeous over the cream zip-front sweater and wide-leg trousers.
Leave the sweater collar folded out over the coat like this. The little taupe handbag is worth keeping too.
black vest and wide-leg jeans
If you’re looking for a simple layering idea, go with this black puffer vest over a pale high-neck top. The wide-leg blue jeans and chunky black shoes keep the rest of the outfit casual.
brown stripes and a fluffy tote
How cute is this striped sweater? The broad cream bands look so pretty beneath the long brown coat.
Cream trousers carry the same colors through the outfit.

That big fluffy tote is my favorite part. Try a pale bag like this if your usual brown coat needs a little something different.

black blazer and gold necklaces
Want something a little dressier for dinner? This black blazer sits over a sheer high-neck top with a black underlayer.
Glossy dark pants and a large oval belt buckle complete the look.
I love the layered gold-tone necklaces against all that black. Keep those if you try a more covered top instead.
patterned sweater and cream vest
This is such a pretty way to wear a patterned sweater. The muted green-gray top has white motifs across the front and sleeves, with a cream vest layered over it.
Pair yours with black pants to keep things simple. The pale shoes pick up the color of the vest.
red scarf and brown coat
Bring a little red into your outfit with a long fringed scarf like this one. I love it against the dark brown coat and the patterned sweater peeking out underneath.

Blue jeans, tan boots and a brown shoulder bag finish the combination. That little bag charm is adorable too.
gray cables and a pinstripe mini
I love this gray cable-pattern sweater with the dark pinstripe skirt. The loose sleeves and short hem are so cute together.
Try black tights and tall black boots to follow the look. A small cream shoulder bag gives you a lighter accessory without adding another pattern.
blue overalls and a brown sweater
Don’t want another jeans-and-coat combination? These blue overalls give you a different starting point.
I love the brown sweater underneath and the tall beige beanie.

You could fasten both straps for your own version or keep the one-strap styling shown here.
fuzzy brown jacket and tall boots
If you are looking for a jacket that stands out, then this one is for you. The fuzzy brown collar and big sleeves look gorgeous above the slim black pants.
The pointed knee-high boots are just as striking. A large black bag and black gloves keep the accessories simple.
long puffer and cream joggers
This is another black puffer look, but it’s a little different from the first one. I love the cream hooded top and joggers underneath the longer coat.
The scarf and earmuffs bring in more cream while the short tan boots match the earmuff band. Add a small black crossbody bag if you like that extra detail.
gray coat and matching scarf
Don’t want to mix lots of colors? No problem there!
Try a gray coat with a matching oversized scarf, black tights and glossy knee-high boots.
I especially love the wide turned-back cuffs. The long scarf fringe makes this simple outfit a little more interesting.
green pinafore and purple tights
How cute is this green pinafore? The patterned sweater underneath has so many lovely colors, from purple to orange and cream.
Try purple tights with a long multicolored scarf to follow this outfit. The plain black boots let you keep all those colors up top.
brown jacket with checked cuffs
This is actually one of my favorite casual combinations here. The brown jacket has checked details along the opening and turned-back cuffs.
A cream ribbed sweater and dark blue jeans sit underneath.

For an indoor version, the brown cutout flats are a cute detail to borrow.
long patterned coat and dark skirt
I am obsessed with this long patterned coat. It looks so pretty over the dark top and matching long skirt, especially with that simple black belt.
Keep the pointed black boots if you want the same dressy look. You could add a plain scarf without competing with the coat’s little zigzag pattern.
pale sweater and flowing skirt
Last but definitely not least, we have this pretty indoor dinner outfit. I love the loose pale sweater over the long cream skirt.
The turned-up cuffs and small curved handbag are such lovely details.
The pointed heels have a little sheer detailing too. I’d keep the accessories light to follow this head-to-toe pale combination.
