Fall dinner ideas worth saving

beef stew with chunky vegetables

We’re starting off strong with this beef stew. I love the big pieces of carrot and potato tucked between the beef, with brown broth filling every little gap.

If you want something on the side, I’d choose a slice of bread for dipping.

orange vegetables and chopped onion

Looking for a little vegetable inspiration? This crockpot has orange chunks, pale chopped pieces and onion ready inside, with a jug of golden liquid beside it.

A squash-based soup would be a lovely direction to try.

chunky chili with orange cubes

This chili may just be one of my favorites here. There are red beans, crumbled meat and tomato pieces, plus bright orange cubes throughout.

If you like this combination, look for a slow-cooker chili with squash or sweet potato. I’d keep the toppings simple and let those chunky vegetables stand out.

apple cider pork and green beans

How good does this plate look? The image identifies the dish as apple cider braised pork, served with apple wedges, onion strips and green beans.

I especially love the generous spoonful of sauce underneath.

chicken and vegetable prep

If you like seeing the prep before the finished dinner, this one is for you. Chicken, carrot rounds, peas and chopped onion appear both in the cooker and in a labeled bag.

The label says chicken and dumplings, but the dumplings aren’t shown yet. There’s already plenty of color from those carrots and peas!

sausage and white bean soup

I love this sausage and white bean soup. The pale beans, orange carrot pieces and leafy greens look so good together in that creamy-looking broth.

A bowl like this doesn’t need an elaborate side. I’d add some toast and keep the rest simple.

pot roast with carrots and potatoes

If you’re saving fall crockpot meals for your next dinner plan, this pot roast is a lovely starting point. The beef is pulled apart in the middle, with potatoes and thick carrot pieces all around it.

The little sprinkle of chopped herbs is worth borrowing when you serve your own.

green apple and orange squash

The green apple and orange squash pairing is so pretty in this cooker. There are carrot pieces, chopped onion and bay leaves too, with separate piles of seasonings on top.

Save this if you want inspiration for an apple-and-squash soup.

mushroom and grain soup

The mushroom fans are going to love this! Thick mushroom slices sit among small grains, carrot rounds and celery pieces in a brown broth.

I especially love the leafy parsley scattered over the bowl. A little garnish like this is a nice finishing touch for your own soup.

roast with red berry sauce

Want something a little different from brown gravy? This roast sits in a glossy red berry sauce, with berries and small golden flecks scattered over the top.

A cranberry-style roast would be a fun idea to try. I’d serve it with mashed potatoes to give that colorful sauce somewhere to go.

cabbage rolls in tomato sauce

I am obsessed with how these cabbage rolls look tucked into the red sauce. The pale folded leaves peek through the tomatoes, with chopped green herbs over everything.

Choose your favorite cabbage-roll filling if you want to try a similar dish.

chicken and wild rice prep

This is another before-cooking picture, but it gives you plenty of dinner inspiration. Chicken sits beside a mixed rice blend, carrots, celery, onion and bay leaves.

If chicken and wild rice soup is on your list, save this combination.

stuffed acorn squash halves

How pretty are these little squash bowls? The dark green shells surround golden-orange centers piled with a chunky filling, leafy greens and pale crumbles.

I’d save them for a dinner where you want to serve everyone their own filled half.

chicken and browned brussels sprouts

Don’t want soup tonight? This skillet of chicken pieces and halved Brussels sprouts gives you another direction.

I love the browned cut sides of the sprouts and all those chopped herbs.

Keep this with your skillet ideas rather than expecting the same browned finish from a crockpot.

ravioli with leafy garnish

This is one of my favorite pasta plates in the mix. The round ravioli have crimped edges, with a glossy sauce, small crumbles and dark green leaves scattered over them.

Pick your favorite ravioli filling if you’d like to try a similar plate.

savory pie with orange mash

I love this bright orange topping. A scooped-out portion shows the crumbled filling, peas and diced vegetables underneath, with little green herbs scattered across the mash.

For similar fall meals, look for a savory pie with a sweet potato topping.

pork chops with apple slices

The apple lovers have another dinner to save here. Browned bone-in pork chops sit beneath apple wedges and long onion strips, with herb sprigs tucked between them.

grain bowl with colorful vegetables

Don’t want a roast or a big bowl of soup? No problem!

This grain bowl has deep red and orange vegetable pieces, leafy greens and chopped nuts piled in the center.

The jar of dressing beside it is a nice serving idea.

golden pastry vegetable pie

That golden pastry top is my favorite part of this dish. The cut serving reveals peas, mushroom slices and other chunky pieces in a thick sauce underneath.

I’d keep the generous pastry topping when looking for a similar dish.

salmon with golden vegetables

Last but definitely not least, we have this simple salmon plate. The pink fillet sits over golden squash cubes and browned Brussels sprouts.

I love how the vegetables fill the bowl right up to the edges.

If you’d like a little extra on the side, I’d add a lemon wedge.
