Looking for color block outfits with combinations you’ll actually want to try? Think pink with orange, lime with blue or lilac with olive green.
There are bold pairings here plus a few softer looks, patterned outfits and a matching burgundy moment that take a different approach.
You can keep things simple or go all out. Start with two colors you love, then decide whether you want matching shoes, a bright bag or just the clothes doing their thing.
Outfit color combinations worth saving
pink blazer and orange top
We’re starting off strong with this gorgeous pink blazer and orange top. I love how the white wide-leg pants give those two bright colors plenty of room.
Try pushing up your blazer sleeves like this, then finish with tan sandals and a short gold-tone necklace.

lime sweater and blue skirt
How good is this lime and blue pairing? The oversized high-neck sweater sits over a bright blue midi skirt, with blue sunglasses adding a little more color up top.
The light-colored lace-up shoes are such a fun choice. I’d keep those if you want something different from the usual sneakers.
burgundy blouse and checks
If you love a print, this one is for you. It’s a patterned alternative to solid color blocks, with black-and-white checked pants beneath a burgundy blouse.
The little ruffles along the buttons are so pretty. Try a burgundy crossbody bag like this one to repeat the color.
pale yellow and light blue
Don’t want to go all out with bright colors? No problem!
This pale yellow cardigan and light-blue jeans combination is a softer place to start. I love the scalloped white top peeking out underneath.
Leave your cardigan open if you want to show those pretty tiers.
blue and white sporty jacket
This jacket may just be one of my favorites here. The big blue, white and dark panels look so cute over the plain black cropped top and fitted shorts.
Pair yours with high-top sneakers to follow the sporty look. The little black bag with white edging fits right in.
black dress with white panels
If you’re looking for color blocking without bright colors, go with a black-and-white dress like this. The pointed white shape at the waist and long side panel are the details I’d look for.
The gold-colored strappy heels add a little shine without introducing another bold color.
purple blazer and orange pants
I am obsessed with this purple and orange outfit. The long blazer and wide-leg pants are gorgeous together, but that tiny orange bag might be my favorite part.
Don’t forget the purple pointed shoes if you want to repeat both colors from head to toe.
pink vest and olive stripes
How cute is this pink vest over the olive striped shirt? There’s a lot to love here, from the tied neck scarf to the wide cuffs.
The gray jeans keep the bottom half simple. Try a pink bag if you want another little bit of the vest’s color.
burgundy with a blue collar
If you are looking for something simple to put together, this one is for you. A pale blue collar and cuffs peek out from an oversized burgundy sweater, paired with gray pants.

You don’t need much of the blue showing to try this combination. Just let those shirt details stay visible.
aqua top and orange ruffles
These orange ruffled shorts are just too cute. I especially love them with the aqua button-front tank and little white handbag.
The tall brown boots are an unexpected addition. For a different version, you could swap them for flat sandals while keeping the same two colors.
yellow sweater and plum pants
This is such a pretty way to wear yellow. The sweater and shoes match, with plum wide-leg pants between them and a long olive coat over the top.

I’d keep that yellow shoe detail. It’s a fun alternative to reaching for black every time.
red pants and a checked jacket
The red-and-white checks are so cute in this snowy setting. This is more of a print-and-solid pairing than classic color blocking, with bright red pants continuing the jacket’s color.
I love the white beanie with it. Pick a plain one if you want to leave all the pattern to your jacket.
red mini and cream sleeves
Don’t want to put together lots of separate colors? Try a red button-front mini dress over a cream high-neck top.
The square neckline leaves a clear block of cream showing above the red.
The little layered necklaces are a lovely finishing touch.
striped polo and cream shorts
Not ready for a bright blazer? This striped polo gives you another way to play with color.
The tan, orange and black stripes sit above plain cream shorts.
I love the blocks of yellow, brown and white on the bag. That’s a cute way to bring color blocking into your accessories instead.
lilac shirt and olive pants
This lilac and olive pairing may just be my favorite one so far. The loose shirt and pleated wide-leg pants look so pretty with that floral detail at the waist.

If you want to go a step further, try a chunky gold-tone necklace and a stack of bracelets like the ones here.
orange sweatshirt and green joggers
Who says you need to dress up to wear bright colors? This orange sweatshirt and green joggers pairing is so fun, especially with the multicolored sneakers.
The little bag has its own blocks of yellow, red and turquoise. Keep that extra color if you want to go all out.
knotted red tee and orange skirt
If you’ve been saving color block outfits but want a simple combination to try, start here. A red V-neck tee sits above a long orange skirt with pleats at the waist.

Try knotting your tee at the front like this. I’d leave the rest simple and let those two colors do the talking.
burgundy from top to boots
This one takes a different direction: matching color rather than contrasting blocks. The oversized burgundy sweater, tall boots and handbag all stay in the same color family.
I love it just like this. If you wanted a color-blocked variation, you could swap the burgundy bag for a pale blue one.
yellow sweater and blue overalls
How adorable are these blue overalls with the yellow sweater? The yellow patterned socks and striped beanie bring little touches of the same color into the rest of the outfit.
The burgundy loafers are my favorite extra detail. Leave your hems above your shoes if you want to show off patterned socks too.
colorful swirls and a matching scarf
Last but definitely not least, we have this colorful one-piece and matching headscarf. It’s a swirled print rather than solid color blocking, with pink, blue, green and orange running throughout.
I am obsessed with the matching scarf! For a simpler variation, choose a plain scarf in one of the swimsuit’s colors.
