Ruffled skirts are seriously one of those pieces that make an outfit feel instantly more fun. I’ve been so into them lately because they give you that soft, feminine vibe without making you look too dressed up. They’re playful, so cute and to be completely honest with you guys here – way easier to style than people think.
You can wear a mini with sneakers, a flowy midi with sandals, or go for a slightly more polished version with a fitted knit – and it just works. A ruffled skirt has that perfect mix of feeling trendy but still super wearable.
What I love most is how many different ways you can wear one. You can make it feel casual, more elevated, chic, or really laid-back just by switching a few things around. So if you’ve been wanting some fresh ways to style this trend, I pulled together my absolute favorite 12+ outfit ideas that make ruffled skirts feel modern, easy and so flattering this year.
12 Ruffled Skirt Outfits That Are Stupidly Cute
Ruffle Skirt with White Tank Top and Sandals
Isn’t this the perfect beach or vacation look, because you can easily wear a bikini or swimwear underneath!?
You’re still covered enough, but at the same time it’s super practical if you’re going back and forth between the beach and somewhere else. And if you’re wearing a bikini underneath, you could always just throw a cover-up dress over it as well.
White on white just always works and in summer it’s especially great because you sweat way less and everything just feels so much lighter.
Ruffle Mini Skirt with Oversized Sweater and Boots
This one feels a little more fall-coded or just really good for those days when it’s a bit colder out. I’d wear this for dinner or anytime you want to look cute and styled without feeling too dressed up.
What I really love here is the contrast between the boots and the rest of the outfit. The ruffle skirt adds that little bit of volume and movement that makes everything feel way more interesting, and honestly that’s why I love them so much.
With a regular mini skirt, a look can fall kind of flat sometimes. But ruffles make it feel more dynamic, more feminine, and just a little more special – which is such an easy styling trick.
Ruffle Skirt with Satin Blouse and Heels
This outfit is definitely eye-catching. Very feminine, very playful and also a little dramatic – of course, in the absolute best way.
If you wanted to tone it down, you could always swap one of the pieces for something more basic. Like maybe keep the skirt and wear a simple top, or keep the blouse and pair it with a simpler skirt. But styled like this, it’s really a statement look.
Floral Ruffle Skirt with Simple Tee and Sneakers
This is more of an effortless everyday look and perfect for brunch and in summer this is actually one of my go-to outfits when I’m going into the city or meeting friends. It’s so easy to put together.
You can switch it up so easily with different tops too, and that’s honestly one of my favorite things about it. One of my go-to T-shirts is pink, and I love how that looks with a ruffle skirt – it just feels easy and cute without trying too hard.
If you have a couple skirts in different colors, you can mix and match them with basically anything and get so many outfits out of them. That’s why it’s such a staple for me – it’s quick, it always works, and if you end up going somewhere a little nicer, you can just swap in a prettier top and suddenly it feels way more elevated.
Ruffle Skirt with Denim Jacket and Tank Top
Black Ruffle Skirt with Fitted Turtleneck
All-black-everything in the best way and I’m obsessed with that. The only real warning is the Doc Martens situation, because if they’re not worn-in yet, that part is very real and not exactly fun – we all know the struggle is real here haha!
Still, I honestly love this look so much, especially for early fall or for chillier evenings when you want a little more coverage. With the boots and the knit, it definitely works best once it cools down a bit, but I still had to include it because it adds such a cool, unexpected edge to the whole ruffle skirt vibe.
Ruffle Skirt with Lace Camisole and Flats
This turquoise tube top is one of the prettiest tops ever – not gonna lie. Especially for a boat trip or a beach day, it just gives those perfect beach vibes.
Ruffle Skirt with Graphic Tee and Trainers
This graphic t-shirt gives the whole outfit a slightly edgy feel. She also styled it with pink details – a pink bag and a pink hair clip – which ties everything together really nicely and adds a bit of personality. I always love these little accents!
Ruffle Skirt with Cute Knit Cardigan
This is another perfect fall look with a cozy sweater. It actually reminds me so much of Rory Gilmore because it feels exactly like the kind of sweater she would wear.
And then paired with those beige boots and leg warmers underneath – just so cute! Especially around September or October when the weather starts cooling down but it’s not fully cold yet.
Ruffle Maxi Skirt with Cropped Top
And the last look has a ruffle maxi skirt and that’s just one of those pieces you’ll always be glad you have in your closet. So good for church or really anytime you want a look that feels a little more modest but still super polished.
She styled it with this cute, slightly rustic white top, which I actually love with it, but you could just as easily dress it up or down depending on where you’re going.
